Redback Hybrid Solar Inverter
As battery storage continues to grow in popularity GB Electrical continue to search out both cost effective and reliable solutions for our customers. After seeing the Redback hybrid inverter at a Solar Conference in October 2015 we could see that this was going to be a great solution for both back up power and offsetting energy costs.
The Redback Hybrid Solar Inverter can control both solar and batteries to reduce the cost of your electricity bills and give you back up power when the grid fails. The system is capable of controlling 5kW of solar panels and controlling the charging and discharging of a 48 volt battery bank. Batteries that are supported by Redback are lead acid, flow and lithium batteries. To further increase energy costs the Redback inverter has 4 in built relays which can be used to switch loads on and off. These relays can be programmed to switch loads on after the batteries are charged and when there is free solar power to use. All of these features are complimented by an online monitoring site which allows the user to keep an eye on all the statistics of the system as well as a phone app to allow access to system information anywhere.
On a recent install, we completed a system with a Redback solar inverter with the latest LG Chem RESU 10 lithium battery. This system gives 9.8kWh of total capacity and 8.8kWh of useable capacity. This system used the customer’s existing solar panel installation but the system can be designed and installed from new or installed with or without batteries. This is allowing the home owner to heavily reduce their electricity usage and give them back up of the light and power circuits in the home the next time the power goes out in South Australia. Below is a copy of the dashboard which the home owner can see for an overview of their system, it shows the battery state of charge from the previous overnight discharge, current solar production and power usage –
When accessing the charts we can see what has happened on any day –
And likewise on the phone app it gives you a quick snap shot of how the system is functioning at the time –
So if you are looking for an affordable all in one solar hybrid solution make sure you check out the Redback system at http://redbacktech.com/ or give GB Electrical a call and we can run you through the features of this great product.
